You may of heard of Original Grain, a San Diego, CA based manufacture that got their lift off from Kickstarter, raising over 300K US dollars with more then 2000 backers in effort to create a truly unique designed all-natural wood and stainless steel combination timepiece that has changed the watch game.
We were lucky enough to get a hold of the Maple Wood – one of the more popular watch from a collection of wonderfully designed timepieces.
Design:
The Maple Wood includes a 43mm wide all-natural wood and steel case with a matte black finish. Although it had a combination of all-natural wood the watch is still water resistant but not dive ready. And includes sapphire crystal glass that’s scratch resistant. Our favorite feature is of course is the hybrid design that combined 100% all natural wood and stainless steel. But don’t expect this watch to be a lightweight because of its combination, the watch has an over all solid contraction. This all wrap around your wrist with the help of the butterfly clasp — that can be found on some luxury time pieces.
Face:
The Maple wood is an analog timepiece with three hands (hours, minutes, and seconds) as well as the date display. This seats on all natural maple wood surface, keeping a clean appearance, while allowing for easy readability.
Movement:
For us watch junkie, you may wonder what makes this watch tick? Original Grain incorporated the very popular and durable Japanese Miyota Quartz movement into all their watch. You can find Miyota movement on some high end manufactures like Bulova for example.
This holiday season, if your looking for the perfect gift, you’ve got a nice little combo here, Original Grain offer up to 8 different configuration. The Maple Wood comes for both gender and starts at $150.
